Mary B. Allen Art Award

At the annual meeting of Windmore Foundation for the Arts held on June 25 at Peppers Grill & Bar, the Mary B. Allen award was given to Elizabeth Hutchins, a long-time supporter of Windmore.

Each year, Windmore recognizes an individual or organization whose efforts mirror Windmore’s goal of encouraging young people to explore the arts and develop their talents. Among her many accomplishments in the arts for Culpeper, Elizabeth has worked with the Picture Lady program, an art and art history program that was taken into the schools back when the arts programs had been cut from the curriculum and, most recently, has been the director of Art in the Park for many years.

We are very proud of Elizabeth and the many artists who give of their time and talent to bring the arts home to Culpeper County.

Dorothy Skelton Award Winners

Windmore is pleased to announce that we have two winners of the Dorothy Skelton Scholarship of $1000 per student.

Marianna Cutright has been accepted to the University of Maryland where she will continue her education in violin performance. Her goals are to both teach violin and to perform as a professional in an orchestra.

John Ross Hawkins is attending Shenandoah University seeking a degree in Communications with an emphasis in Film and Cinematography. He plans to make movies that make a difference.

We congratulate both our winners and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
